Ultra Sound Bill Passes Georgia Senate

This is an historic day as the Georgia Senate passed a sonogram bill that requires every woman seeking an abortion to have an ultrasound performed first. Nancy Schafer, author of the bill stated in her argument that 75% of abortion minded women change their mind after seeing an ultrasound of their baby!

The implications are huge because if Schafer's statistics are accurate then the bill would cut abortions in Georgia by 75%! The bill passed in the Senate by a vote of 35/17. But passage in the House is not assured. In order for the bill to pass it will require key Republican leadership. Most notable is House Speaker Glenn Richardson of Paulding County. His level of support for the bill is not know at this point.

Thank God and stay tuned for a battle over the next several days! This one is worth fighting for. Pray and call your Representative!

The Ultrasound Bill never made it out of committee to be voted on this session so we have to wait till next year, with this in mind we should call the Capital and express our outrage and displeasure with them now. However, this could be a good thing .

I agree that the bill could have saved lives, however, it would not have cut abortions rates by 75%. The main reason why is because many of the women that see their ultrsounds in crisis pregnancy centers are looking for alternatives and therefore somewhat open to life. Once a women is already at a clinic she most often has her mind made up. It is very hard to help her choose life at this point. Since they can't MAKE her view the ultrasound, most probably won't.

The hurdle we have is that by the time they reach the clinic they've already spiritually aborted their child. I do believe that some will chose to view their ultrasound and it will save some lives but in order to make this bill more effective we need to get the moms to have to view their ultrasound PRIOR to the abortion appt.

So lets make this bill stronger by requiring the women bring in a copy of her ultrasound prior to their abortion appt! PLease call James Mills and Nancy Schaeffer today and ask for this change.
